June 13-15, 2017
Sivananda Bahamas Ashram and Retreat Center

Join us for workshops based on the five Koshas, or aspects of the self. Come learn how to bring these layers that make us human into greater balance for a more integrated and healthy life. This unified system specifically addresses imbalances that keep us from achieving our goals and living fully. The physical body, pranic body, conscious mind, intuitive mind, and the heart will be addressed. Healing Through The Pranic Body and Conscious Mind: A Yoga Therapy Perspective
September 8-10, 2017
Garrison, New York
(Weekend Retreat #2 for BDYT Foundations Course)

In this retreat we move deeper into the koshas, or layers of the Self, unwrapping like a gift, the inner-workings of the pranic and mental bodies. Teachers through the ages have taught us that we are much more than just our physical body, and in this retreat we begin the process of moving our awareness through the layers of our being toward the core. Participants will examine the healing relationship that the pranamaya and manomaya koshas share, and better understand, through theory and practice, how working at this level can bring balance to the body and mind.

You will explore:

● How different pranayamas affect our energetic system
● How to assess which pranayamas will bring about balance and healing
● How pranayama techniques can be used to balance the doshas: vata, pitta, and kapha, and to treat dis-ease
● How to work specifically with the conscious mind (manomaya kosha) through the practices of chanting and guided meditations to bring balance and healing to the body/mind

Join us if you:

● Want to learn how to use pranayama chanting and chakra balancing to affect balance and improve health conditions
● Want to understand the full role of prana in the healing process
● Wish to deepen your own practice past just the physical body
● Want to learn techniques to help others in a one on one environment
● Want to connect to a community of yoga teachers/therapists from all over

Healing Through The Body And Breath: A Yoga Therapy Perspective
Spring 2018
TBD
(Weekend Retreat #1 for BDYT Foundations Course)

Yoga asana, or movement, supports the body’s health, often in an accessible and immediate way, and when we add in proper supportive breathing, the result is one of the most powerful ways to to affect change and bring healing to injuries.

Participants will learn to offer a Range of Motion Assessment. With this important tool, you’ll learn to discern physical strengths and weakness, both in yourself and in others. This skill is key in Breathing Deeply Yoga Therapy, and is used to determine which asanas will bring the most balance and healing in the most efficient way. We will also spend time learning and experiencing how the breath supports and transforms us, and how to teach supportive breath practices to clients and yoga students.

Join us if you:

● Want more confidence working one-on-one with clients, and want to enhance your physical assessment skills
● Want to deepen your understanding of how to balance physical conditions
● Wish to find out more about the path of yoga therapy
● Want to learn how to balance the physical and pranic energies of the body
● Want to connect to a community of yoga teachers/therapists from all over

This retreat addresses the physical foundations of the Breathing Deeply Yoga Therapy Program, and is one of three essential retreats for students working towards becoming Yoga Therapists.
