Yoga Therapy Retreats

Pandemic Update: All of our residential retreats held in New York have been seamlessly moved online until further notice.

When studying with Breathing Deeply, the learning journey begins with the Foundations Program, an online yoga therapy training. Students work at their own pace and absorb the material to get an intellectual understanding and a knowledge-based grounding in the theory and practices. Part of this online learning process also includes live Q & A’s with Brandt, ensuring ample time to ask questions, connect with peers, and learn from a master teacher.

When students attend the yoga therapy retreats they are given the opportunity to connect and deepen their understanding of learned knowledge through hands-on embodied and practical practice.

These yoga therapy retreats are held several times a year in a beautiful, serene and spacious retreat center in upstate New York (north of NYC). Foundations Program students also have the option to attend these retreats remotely, live online, if they are unable to travel.

Retreats are practice sessions that provide hands-on experience with other students while receiving guidance and expert feedback from head instructor Brandt. Students apply what they are working on from home while expanding their knowledge including client assessment, working with specific conditions, and becoming more skilled at helping clients move toward healing.

The Breathing Deeply yoga therapy retreats are spaced throughout the year, while online training is available all the time from wherever students are, on demand. This deliberate design creates a rhythmic alternation between knowledge and practice, accommodates individual learning styles, and fosters camaraderie and connection among students. This vibe of positivity and support goes on to serve the students once they are graduate to continue with a solid community of peers in yoga therapy.

In addition to enjoying the peaceful setting, delicious, healthy food, and getting to know the other aspiring Yoga Therapists, students share that they appreciate the structure of the days during retreats.

With morning meditation, partner work to practice assessment, and other things like muscle and postural testing, small breakout groups, asana, and pranayama practice time, lots of discussions, including case studies and condition-specific questions, these yoga therapy retreats are full and enriching.

Here’s what one Foundations Program student participant had to say:

“Healing Through The Body And Breath: A Yoga Therapy Perspective was everything I wanted it to be and more. The program included a hands-on approach peppered with the right amount of meditation, pranayama and yoga nidra. I left wanting more, but more importantly, I was inspired to continue these practices on a more consistent basis! Brandt was accessible and laid back with a great sense of humor! Definitely, a must go to retreat!”–Lisa Alexander

The Foundations Program includes three weekend-long residential retreats, which can either be done live or online for those who are unable to travel.

The Advanced Program requires completion of seven eight-day residential retreats.

This is feedback from a student in the Advanced program:

“If you are an aspiring Yoga Therapist that is apprehensive about making the leap because of a hole in your learning around anatomy, this is the retreat for you. This week gave me so much confidence about how to read bodies and a much better understanding of anatomy and it was done in a way that fit my learning style. When it was over, I felt like I had taken a huge leap forward. Brandt really knows how to make this complex topic simple. I can’t recommend this training enough.”–Debbie Simon
